Income Planning
Turning a lifetime of saving into a paycheck that lasts.
For most of your working life, the goal was simple: save more. Income planning is about the shift that comes next — turning those savings, along with Social Security and any pension you may have, into a paycheck you can count on, month after month, for as long as you need it.
Matching your income to your life
We like to start by separating your spending into two buckets. The first is essential: housing, food, healthcare — the costs that show up every month whether the market is up or down. Where possible, we aim to cover these with your most dependable income sources, things like Social Security and pension payments, so the basics are never in question.
The second bucket is discretionary: travel, hobbies, time at the lake — the parts of retirement you've been looking forward to. This is where your savings and investments typically come in, giving you flexibility to enjoy those years without worrying that a market dip will disrupt your grocery budget.
Getting the timing right
When you claim Social Security can shape your income for the rest of your life, and there's no single right answer for everyone. We walk through the tradeoffs with you, thinking about your health, your other income sources, and what feels right for your family, so the decision is a deliberate one rather than a default.
A plan that moves with you
A retirement income plan isn't something you set once and forget. Markets shift, spending needs change, and life brings surprises. We check in regularly to see how your withdrawal strategy is holding up and make adjustments along the way, so your plan continues to reflect where you actually are, not just where you expected to be years ago.
